Wahlesah Dick volunteers her time with the Cherokee Native Art and Plant Society and is from the community of Briggs. She grew up on the land of her great grandmother Belle Dirteater Dick and is where Wahlesah raised her daughter Macy (Sosti).
Wahlesah was exposed to Cherokee Art at a young age through her family and local summer camps and workshops that her mother coordinated. At the age of fourteen Wahlesah was honored to help the National Service Learning Coporation- NCCC and the Native Reflections community service group she co-chaired on a revitalization of the Briggs Weavers. Wahlesah enjoys collecting greens like wild onions, kochani and watercress with her mother, daughter and maternal grandmother Josephine Smith.
Wahlesah is a strong believer in exposing young children to the arts, Macy has been taught by Cherokee Potters Stephen Wood and Jane Osti and attended the Philbrook Museum's Mixed Media Summer Camp and enjoys playing the fiddle, traveling to Santa Fe Indian Market and Santa Fe for the tortillas at Tomasita's. Macy's favorite artists are: Sallyann Paschall, Jane Osti, and Stephen Wood.
